near dyersville iowa | I use a check light on problem waterers. an old broken house lamp actually. find your hot and your ground, and see if you have power to the waterer first. If you have power there, check if you have power past the thermostat. If its warm enough to not trip the thermostat you probably wont. You could hook up the element direct for a couple seconds just to confirm if its working or not, but be careful because water and electricity can be terrible when mixed, and the element will get real hot real fast, so dont burn yourself. But if its an old waterer, i would probably just get a couple elements, because you will need them eventually anyway. Hopefully you can follow the wiring to get it wired right. | |
