S.E. Iowa
I would like to think wilderness would be a economic stimulator, but. Here in southeast Iowa there are alot of deer, I know deer hunters spend money. How about the thousands and perhaps miliions of crops that are eaten and then not sold? How about the deer/car accidents? A friend of mine was a airbag for his wife when he got hit by a deer on his motorcyle {it killed him}. I could have alot of money if I had what the deer have taken from me, the taxes I would have payed would be more that the deer licenses for people who hunt on my land x 25. Locally here there is a munitions manufacturing base {19000 acres} there has been off and on talk of closing it. I think it would be great 19000 acres added to the tax base of the county, but it is deer haven. Someone like Ted Nugent would buy it, put it in forest preserve and have great midwest hunting with no property taxes. Thats what I see from my narrow little world.
