Subject: RE: John Deere 8000 Series SPFH

Lots of impressions, mostly good. Its replacing our 7750. I'm expecting a slight increase in out put per hour. I don't know that for sure yet, being I'm going with kernal star which some say take more power, at least in the 7000 machines. The 8's have a bigger processor so it might improve this. One comment on this - there is a video from Califorinia that states its beating a 7980. I can't find in the video that it's a 8600 that there talking about. I know that there are some prototype 'bigger' machines runnning out there, and the machines in the video do not have a production hood, so my opinion is that the 8600 will 'compare' to my 7750. My Claas buddies say they have been running one for years because it resembles a claas. I agree there are some things that do. My opinion is that there is only one way (thats most efficient) to get crop from the header to the truck. All brands are looking more and more the same in this regard. Deere takes this and puts more comfort and tech gadets around this design. For example I haven't seen anyone else match what my greenstar will do for me.
To break down all I like and dislike would take to long, however I decided to override my 'first year of a series terror' and jump for one, if that says anything. I will mention that KP in and out speed is leading the pack in my decision, yeah claas guys say what they say, and I'm not going to pick apart the claas here. Like in every business, If they weren't always trying to out do each other we would be stuck with one brand at a even more rediculous price. - my buddies who I spar with will admit that service drives the bus. And so far I have been a Deere fan to start with, and service has been there for me. If you have any specific questions about the machine, just ask, and I can break it down farther.
