middle TN | Cutting the holes bigger on calf nipples is a hangin' offence:) Seriously that defeats any advantage the bottle has over just feeding in a bucket. The slow suckling action causes more saliva that the calf needs to digest the milk. Also when the milk goes down fast, it goes into the wrong part of the stomach which can cause problems. I have a couple of older, worn nipples that I keep for giving newborns colostrum, but after they get a couple bottles down, they get fed with newer, slow flowing nipple. Sometimes, when I have more than one calf near the same age I will put them on a Milk-Bar bucket with multiple nipples that feed really slow. To answer the question asked, the Merricks nipples and bottles seem to hold up the best. I like the snap on type, over the ring type.
