Fruita CO | Those scrapers had a hydraulic-operated tow bar in the front that dropped over a ball (or pin) on the back of the other one...I've seen them on youtube-see if I can find it again...
this isn't the same video, but you can see the bars on the front of the 657's...SoCalEarthmovers has some cool vids...
