 I had to come back and read your description again,..........and again.d:-) But now I sorta see what you are getting at. That is actually a cool way to do this. I had not thought of that. Just bump a momentary switch to activate the latch. That's interesting. Thanks for bringing it to the thread.

 I'm thinking I may be better off to just buy a new actuator with a potentiometer and use a common controller. Sometimes I get too focused on what I have on hand.



Sorry I guess I misunderstood. I thought you wanted to be able to control the gate between fully open and fully closed, not just have it fully open or fully closed. If you want it fully open or fully closed than the latching relay may do the trick. If you want it fully open or fully closed and never anywhere in between, just use my setup but get a DPDT switch that does not have center OFF. Then the switch will be trying to open or close the actuator. The limit switches will stop it at the extremes.
