Red River Valley in Manitoba | It's been done. I don't have any photos handy, but a fellow by the name of Buster Peterson used to build such units for Caterpillar back in the 60's and 70's. I think the biggest unit he created was a triplex which was operated by a guy in an elevated cab over the middle unit. Generally they were only used on large dam projects or mines where they could be committed to working in the same place for several months or years at a time. Biggest problem was transporting them, as they were too cumbersome to move on a road without being disassembled. |
