Beans are easy to hoard. Especially when harvested at 11% moisture. I contracted for a normal crop, not a BIG one.. so we've been storing beans in bins not used in decades.
I've heard the meal users have something to do with this. Supplies were so tight going into harvest, the pipeline hasn't really forced the air bubbles out yet. There are still users waiting on beans, and they're bidding up because they can't risk being caught without supply. There is the risk once the users are sufficiently stocked they'll unload their positions. But I know nothing, really - I sold most of my excess beans at harvest last year for what I thought was good money, only to see them go into the 13's this summer when I had none... so it's a crazy commodity considering the huge world demand for relatively few bushels.
Same here. Bins that haven't been used in 15 years got out back to use this fall. I sold what I needed to to get to spring and now it's the waiting game..... We had a decent crop here as well. |
