Napanee, Ontario | that's actually exactly what we're doing. When times are good, you position yourself for when times turn bad again.
Everyone has their own reasons, but IMO - I don't think we are going to see herd rebuilding anytime soon, since most guys I talk to have the similar opinion as Sheep and Maydel. Can't blame them - sell as much as you can when the prices are good.... heck, some guys are selling the whole works. After years of poor prices, it's hard to have to optimism to keep that heifer back and count on the prices still being there when you're selling her calf three years down the road. Easier to take the money and run now.
Maybe we should be doing that too - but we're all getting "Next Year" written on our tomb stones. | |
