Minnesota/Kentucky fertility based on ENERGY
We drove down to St Louis on our monthly meca to Barnes and Jewish for my wife and figured I was the only farmer in the Midwest that had not got all their beans harvested, from Mt Pleasant, Iowa south seems lots of them there beans to go, made me feel not so under the gun trying to harvest and driving Mrs. Daisy but I would be anywhere else.

Whole lot of beans weren't harvestable before last week's big rains evened them up, then it was muddy, then the fog Friday made them 18% and pretty much ruined 2 days for bean harvest.  It's just been tough to put together a good run of cutting.  Worked really nice after lunch today, though.

Yeah it has been a battle this month on beans. We have 300 acres left should be done Tuesday or Wednesday. They are just now cutting good. Been able to run 4.5 mph past few days which is better then the 2.3 we were running because if green stems.

CGB called wanting to know if we could run our 93B82s because they were filling a barge, moved to those farms and it's going to take 5 days with a class 8 combine and 35' draper to cut 200 acres-with no rain.  Smh.

I know one thing clay. I have never had such a hard time setting my combine until this bean harvest. Seemed every field was different! Lol. I have had the pleasure of digging her out 2 times this year also. I'll be glad to get them done. Yield has been from 30 to 55 field averages. SDS hit some of them pretty hard.

Thought I was the only one...looked back after not running for 10-days and beans all over the ground, had to tighten it up. One Pioneer variety 33T01R2 is shattering like crazy. 7 out of 8 fields are below APH. TOO MUCH RAIN!!!!!!!!! Worst was 31 second worst 36 (or so haven't checked tickets), best 57, avg around 40.

I'd almost forgotten how discouraging SDS can be.  Taking a 20 bpa yield hit between two fields planted to the same variety on the same day and managed the same sorta makes you sour about what might have been....

I wonder if times have changed-remember when having a 15ft header on a 1480 combine was a good match

Lots of beans still out. Many weren't ready till Mid Oct. A lot came out this weekend but still easy to find unfinished fields. I'd guess 75 to 80 % finished.
