You can take them apart and add more springs and little dogs. It's a bear to do. You need a ring compressor. I bought new ones last winter when I replaced the feeder chains. There not too expensive as I recall. The new ones had all the spring in. You may need to work on how your head is feeding. Mine only slips when beans pile up and go all at once.
