Rivers, MB | My brother and I came home to farm in '99 when everyone was down in the dumps about farming and ag in general. Allowed us to buy and rent land because hardly anybody else wanted to expand their farm then. Doubled in size and turned out to be very lucky timing. Actually passed up on 1000's of acres of land to buy and rent because we didn't want to overexpose ourselves. Would have been a good move in hindsight. But could have ended our farming career if things had stayed mediocre the way things were from '99 to '05. | |
