| I'm probably too late to the game, but the problem with a single-tie knotter is that the string will typically pull out of the twine holder on a large square baler due to the density of the bale and how much hay the twine has to drag through as the bale grows.
A double tie knotter gets around this problem by only keeping twine in the twine holders during the tie cycle. Otherwise twine is fed directly from the boxes onto the bale and no twine has to drag through the core of the bale as its formed.
The "Deere Exclusive" double-tie knotter is what the vast majority of all other large square balers have (only a few have a single-tie as an option). The only innovation I can see that Deere has done is make the wear edge of the stripper arm replaceable and put lubrication channels in the head to reduce the number of lube lines necessary. | |
