Congrats on being "almost" done with harvest. That is always a nice feeling, and it sounds like you earned the rest with the extra trucking. I kind of think that we will be seeing a little more of that - I am binning beans (we've got extra room since we did some seed corn this year), and I expect that I will do some trucking with our hired man during the spring when everyone is planting and the ethanol plant wants corn, as well as see where the processors are willing to pay for the beans. Going to be a few years where you sit, look at your machinery assets, (I'm looking at a backhoe, no-till drill, 2 semi trucks, etc.) and know that if you can pick up a little here and there, those are the machines that are going to help a farmer make it through the tougher times ahead. BUT, it is going to be crappy work like sitting in line with a truck, unless folks like you get all creative and get corn backhauls by buying the corn....
