Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463 | Looks good.
About 1995 I did close to the same thing. Fellows to the north had made a drive over using 24" channel iron.
So I decided to do the same.
A couple things: My only concern about yours is will the hauled in dirt ramps be packed good enough this year.
May be a good idea to have a pile of crushed rock nearby.
In time it will pack in tight.
Concrete will be nice. But I would wait until at least late next summer to pour it.
Also with the pour. Do not slope the concrete to the pit, as a hopper.
Have just a bit of slope away from the pit. That is maybe a half inch drop in a the first foot around the hopper.
Level beyond.
This will keep rain water from flowing into the hopper. Other than the just above rain.
And I see you have made deals to funnel the grain towards the hopper. I did the same. spent a lot of time working on that. And a complete waste of time.
That area around the hopper is going to fill up with spilled grain, Period. After you are done clean it out and either give it to someones hogs or throw it away.
After you are done for the year, lift the hopper up out of the pit. Swing it 90 degrees or so and store it out of the hole.
Clean the hole out. Again some hogs or spread in field.
If you leave it there, it will be rat heaven.
You will love it. |
