SW Minnesota | I've been wanting a drive-over dump for my dryer set-up for several years but never quite had enough time to get it done before harvest. And I was NOT going to spend 5 figures for a commercially-built one so I decided to build one myself. But this past week I was waiting to finish soybean harvest on a farm that was replanted because of hail so I decided that now was the time!
I actually got started on it last year, pouring the cement pad it sits on in the summer of 2013 and welding together the pit and the grates late last fall into winter. As you can see from the photos, it was a pretty straight-forward project - set-up the auger, place the dump pit "box" into position around the swing hopper and then haul in a bunch of fill dirt/clay, form it into a ramp on both side, pack it down and then cover it with gravel. Can't wait to try it out!
