| Do you guys really want the Chinese communists to be able to tell American farmers what they can and can't plant? That's very dangerous as they don't play by the rules. They took Viptera/MIR162 for 2 years until they realized they had way too much corn and then shut imports. Even now they are threatening to close imports of non-gmo sorghum due to excessive pesticide residue. If you haven't dealt with the Chinese before they only play by their own rules and screw everyone else. Ask Cargill about that. They claim they lost $90mil. because of MIR162 but won't file a claim against China because of their substantial interests in China and hopes of expansion. So instead they sue Syngenta...very lame. Every major corn importer in the world including the finicky Europeans have approved the variety so there's no scientific reason behind their refusal. They even came out the other week and flatly said they won't approve a new gmo soybean variety (Bayer crop sciences variety) because of public opinion against gmo crops. This is against the WTO rules they agreed to as you need scientific evidence to ban gmo crops. I'm not associated with Syngenta or any other seed company and don't currently own their stocks. | |
