If I remember right, the JD rims for duals came with pipe welded to the rims on the older 9600's. the steel used for the rims were probably a bit light to start with, but many would crack around the welds for the pipe to protect the valve stem... Later 9000's and the replacement rims did not have the pipe welded on them, and the cracks in the valve stem area did not show up anymore.
