Yes it is carbide tipped or a material that looks like carbide. Cutters/broaches/bits are made to order or they can rebuild your worn ones. Not shelf items, when you order they start making. No comparison to an ordinary annular cutter, I assume you are referring to a hole saw.
The trunnion bearings in which the bridge rotates on are enclosed and have removable covers. One of our first missions is to cut inspection holes and install bolt on covers. This will make the alignment of the bridge much easier.
This bridge is governed by the City of Baltimore and I believe they have 5 inspector in the trailer.
I will get pics of the trunnions as the work progresses, didn't have the time today, but will soon.............
