Central Ohio | circa 1996 volvo semi tractor. cat 3176 engine. all of a sudden without warning it will crank and crank but no start or smoke.
We found out that it will start with a quite healthy dose of ether and will run until you shut it down. Hit the key right away and will crank but no start. No way to restart it until it cools down and then ether it again.
We changed a regulator valve (looks like a bullet or widget from guinness beer bottle) and spring, but no go.
What could this be? Seems to be ecu or electronic fuel control issue????????
