If you look up cattle price for Europe you can see the similar type of European Commission market reports as the USDA publishes here. Cattle prices there are in the range of 350-400 euros per 100 kg live wt. 375 euros per 100 kg works out to about $2.16 lb live weight, It looks like we've got some room to go yet before we get to the global price of beef.
I'm afraid the American consumer better get accustomed to these prices otherwise the rest of the world will just eat their lunch.
