Might want to look into using Zactran instead of Draxxin. Last time I figured, a dose of Zactran costs about 20% less than draxxin and in my experience is just as effective. Have good success on pinkeye with 4.5Ccc/100 dose of Noromycin. The problem is too big a dose for many dart guns. The good thing is it cost less than 25% of draxxin.
Nice looking calves!!
Yeah I use Zactran quite a bit on calves, but you are right too darn much for one dart. I started out using two darts but not long before the gator rolls into the pasture that cows aren't running off. That's how I got in on using Draxxin.
puff33 I usually vaccinate for pink eye. Been using piliguard and had good luck with it. These from TX were worked down there. I was hoping it was too late for pink eye so I didn't have them vaccinated (won't do that again). I should have rounded them up and given them a shot. I think I have it whipped, only darted one in last 10 days. Lazy guys who never work their cattle down here seem to never get pink eye. Of course I try it and it gets expensive. Some years it's bad, other years we don't see it. |
