#1 yes #2 yea it does but you got to be paticular with it. its got plastic strips that goes on each link. youve got to keep a check on these when one comes off it allows a wider gap and smaller pnuts can fall thru. Sometimes the chain links can get snagged for whatever reasons and that can cause a gap to let pnuts fall out. One thing the chain runs a good bit of slack hanging under bottom, this is normal. but in wet conditions when the picker bogs the chain will hit the ground where you dont have to worry about that with the auger. Overall. we did run the 5000 and 2- 8000 machines for years and they work good but if i could have bought the machines with the auger i would rather have it because it was less parts and maintance to keep up, Also their is a special set of pliars used to break the chain links, makes it easier #3 Its gonna let more dirt and small rocks fall out but if I was buying new side by side id take the auger. Ill continue later...
