Subject: RE: Simple Silo Question

Faunsdale, AL
A 30' holds ABOUT what two 20' diameter silos hold and you're right, you want the distributer to be doing a good job keeping the silage level as you're filling.

We moved a 30x80 which wound up a 30x70. Had two blower pipes and two distributers, one on each side, exactly opposite from each other so we could fill faster. It was well worth having someone up there working each distributer manually, filling in any holes as it got close to the top. Sure didn't want to fork it all at the end (and would still have had a sink when it had settled and was time to feed out)

The biggest job is cleaning off the spoiled silage and leveling it to start the unloader! Feeding dairy cows, so cannot just start the unloader up and feed out the spoiled along with the good!
