Central Texas
Supply and demand. More demand for a 1000 lb feeder than a 1350 lb. While this maybe an extreme example, there is most always similar situations between different wts of feeders both with narrow spreads and wide spreads. It varies over time due to what size feeder animals are available and what is in demand trying to hit certain finish time/size parameters. Lots of opportunity in buying the lighter wt end of the larger than average spreads and selling on the heavy side of a big spread, but have to be careful to not go "over the cliff" into a narrow spread like your example. Seems like 5 wt calves are often undervalued compared to both heavier and lighter wts but not always.

Just another 2 cents worth.
