S.E. Iowa | Cut about 35 acres of clover alfalfa hay Tuesday, weather have been beautiful not even any dew in the mornings. Checked it tonight should go tomorrow easy. It was a very heavy crop. Was wondering if I could just bale the swaths left by the mower conditioner and skip raking. 2 or 3 together. 14 ft moco leaves a swath equal to the width of my mega wide 567 JD baler. Had to do about 2 acres ahead of a rain first cutting so I know the baler will clean the field as well or better than raking and baling. Also seems we don't loose as many leaves going from swath to bale. I know its not the way most people would do it but is there a real reason not to. TIA | |
