I'd agree with Spankey, take your knife adjusters off and check the torques on them and then use a torque wrench on the mounting bolts when you replace them.
From memory the mounting bolts are 85 and 175 ft/lbs, but it's in the operator's manual
We've had 2 JD3950/55 and never had a problem with the shear bar moving on it's own.
Did have an issue with one side adjusting up quicker than the other, turned out it was that adjuster needed adjusting on advice from one of you guys
