Not necessarily although, just like any breed, they can pretty much all be traced back to a few bloodlines.  There is really no reason to chase registered cattle if you aren't going to sell their offspring as registered purely for seedstock purposes.  Find some Red Angus with a touch of shorthorn in them and they'll out do just about any pure bred RA cow.

Get ready to pay a nice premium reds are bringing several hundred more than black cattle right now, long over due IMO.  Watched 150 7 weight heifers sell for $2K /hd on Superior today, only thing that came close and actually beat them was a small group of Herefords. Same on the bred end reds have been blowing away blacks these last few months.  I will admit supply has some to do with it but not all.
