| I seem to recall, rather painfully in fact, that an unprecedented amount of hog farmers went belly up or said screw this and walked away in 1998 when corn was dirt cheap. Millions of hogs were also fed on corn that was bought below the cost of production, thanks to the LDP program. All that did was accelerate the integration of the industry for the big boys. High corn prices don't hurt hog farmers nearly as much as low pork prices do.... |
