Subject: Dual receiver vs single receiver

I'm getting a few different answers for this - one is there are 2 frequencies broadcast by the gps satellites and using both helps stability. The other is that is has to do with 2 way vs. 1 way communication with the base station. Which is it? Am I talking about 2 separate features: L1/L2 or L1 only sat signal and 1 or 2 way base station communication?

It sounds like I want the L1/L2 type receiver for better stability and it costs more so it has to be better. Without lots of links to pdf's could someone clear up this (unless the only way is reading a 10 page pdf white paper).

Thanks,

Pat
