western iowa,by Denison | small time bean grower-dumb corn farmer-new to futures hedging-
back about 2 months ago I bought my first puts in beans,at the time I could have also bought corn puts and didn't
bean crop looks huge here-lots of beans on continuous corn acres that have never had beans for 5-10 years-
I sold 10 bu acre early fall dlivery, but didn't sell any more because I have lost those bushels to hail and just bad luck
my ratio was always 3-1 in my head-and have always thought we would sell fall beans at $8.50 fall harvest at my local co-op
todays bid is $2.85 for corn and $8.77 for beans My question is when do I sell my Nov puts?
my 3-1 puts beans at $8.55-anyone think we will go to beans at $7-put corn at $2.33? | |
