Took in some Lewis and had checked weighing 57.1. Have had that family of hybrids be 62 before. So, what is affecting test weights?
Same reason why 2009 didn't have high test weight and it wasn't because it all froze. Same reason why I harvest some of the heaviest corn in 2012. Guess larger kernels do not equate to high TW. I would also guess from doing TW figures on a TW scale the larger vs. smaller kernels have different packing density. Getting technical but there is a lot of air space around a larger kernel vs. small. I dunno??? |
