Kankakee, IL
When talking with neighbors pre harvest I will ask what % over/under your APH are you thinking is out there. Next, check if they have spent much time in the field. Lastly, what % change is this from last year. Actual bu/acre is still often brought up by them. To me it only matters on my own spreadsheets for Profit/Loss and marketing. Everyone has variable yields becasue of variable soil. BTW, looking for normal corn and normal soybeans this year. I spend a lot of time in the field so I feel good about my estimates. Last year corn was 7.5% over and soy 10% over APH. Will start this week so time to stop making estimates.
