Your barking up the wrong tree here. Use gravity as your friend, you can run underground lines that tie all the water tanks together and actually get much better results. All of them will stay equally full vs the waterfall effect. There are no exposed pipes to damage. Same idea as a remote float box. If your on flat ground you can use one float to control as many water troughs as you want keeping all the mechanical aspects of the water trough away from anything harmful even out side of the fence if you want. 12 inch high pressure gas line works really good for a remote box. Depending on how many troughs to service out of one box your going to have to do some heavy math to make sure your pipes and box are large enough to deliver the volume you need.
