Texas/New Mexico Stateline
After cattle feeding's boom here in Texas 1970-2008 it is slowly moving back to the midwest. Texas no longer has the most cattle on feed anymore. Nebraska passed us a while back.

I think a huge part of that is the fact we are a corn deficit area now. 1970s-1990s we had lots of irrigated corn and ample corn supply. Now our corn basis keeps going higher and higher because demand is outstripping supply. All our huge elevators are sitting empty.

Having said all that, there are several unit train unloaders in the area now, and they are struggling to get trains in to fill them up.
