SE SD | Depends on what you are roping softer rope usually better for beginners. Don't get to learning bad habits. Find someone who knows how to rope and take lessons from them. Habits on the ground transfer to horse. Different types of roping require different ropes, swing, angles and position. Tip, target, and delivery are the three things about roping to remember, 70-80% of roping is horsemenship! Takes a better left hand than right hand to rope!
