Arsenic isn't used in treated wood anymore, some type of saline solution is used now. We've built plenty out of treated lumber without a hiccup. Actually treated will hold up longer just due to the fact it is made out of yellow pine whereas SPF lumber can be made out of spruce, pine, or fir.
