Northern IN | Deere 4000. I was 6. We were picking up rocks in a field of 30 inch row beans that had just come up putting the rocks in a 3 point hog carrier. Dad put me behind the wheel poking along in 2nd or 3rd gear. When he saw I could keep it between the rows he jumped off. I can remember sitting on the edge of the seat and barely being able to push the clutch pedal to get it stopped so I could point out a rock I saw that didn't get picked up. The next summer I moved up to pulling wagons when cutting wheat. It wasn't too long after that I was working ground with a 12 foot disc. The 4000 is still on the farm. | |
