Ripley, Ontario Canada | I agree there are ways to transfer land without putting it on the market, but they require planning and actually talking about the fact someone is going to die and not need the farmland forever. Not everyone talks about that, and if no planning is done, sometimes the only option is to sell to deal with the taxes or family fights. Nothing will make land sell faster than the IRS or CCRA (Canada) telling you to send them a 5 or 6 figure cheque to settle an estate if the family has no other way to get the money. | |
