Floyd County, Iowa
John-
Those are bumblebees. A small version, but bumblebees. Several of us around here have seedums, and they're all covered with bumblebees. Big bumblebees and small ones, mostly small, as well as butterflies. We used to have a lot of the big ones around, but now there's very few. I know we need them, but when one of them is rumbling by my ear, my knees go wobbly. Got into a nest of the bigboys when I was about 6, and don't like them near me ever since.
Hadn't seen any bees all summer, and my wife has about every kind of flower planted around here, but since the seedums started blooming, the bumblebees showed up. Been a couple years since I've seen honeybees, though.
