I interpreted the footnote to say that "even if all the leaves were frozen and kill there still could be some translocation of sugars from the stalk to the grain if the stalk wasn't frozen." I don't think this means the yield will increase just that it might not be as low as it could be if both the leaves and stalk were frozen. It is my experience with late planted immature corn test weight and yield are seriously reduced. Test weights on the order of 40-42 lb per bushel (dry corn) are expected. This is in addition to the dramatically reduced volume of corn due to shriveled kernels. Overall yield is the product of test weight and volume.
