Without considering any of the politics but just the economics would you Canadians care to offer an opinion as to whether it could have been better for you to have more closely integrated with the United States earlier in our histories.
Cons:
Basically would have been at war with one country or another ever since the Spanish-American war.
Only way for most people to go to college is to join the army.

Pros:
I suppose we could have stayed out of WWI and WWII for a few years instead of getting involved at the beginning.
