Not entirely true..... Selling a call could land you with a short futures position if the market rallies. If you are long in the bin or field, that short, is a hedge. I think it's a good rule of thumb to say it's ok to sell the call if you can live with the associated short position. Keep in mind it is advantageous to roll those shorts ahead in big carry markets, if you think you are getting over hedged in current crop year. You can gain about 44c spreading cz4- cz5 currently ie: $5 turns to 5.44
