I'm with k hall on this wheat crop. I never thought I would be disappointed in a 70 bushel wheat crop but I am this year. I guess I thought for what we put into the crop and the seemingly perfect growing conditions we were going to see some big numbers on the yield monitor. Our SY Soren wheat had what looked like a nice thick stand but the heads seem shorter and smaller than we would like to see. Crop scout said this very thing a few weeks before harvest when yield checks were done. Only thing I can think that dinged the crop was a hot/humid spell right at the 4th of July right when I was starting to apply fungicides.
Ah well it still has been a very good crop, pro has been right in the 14.1 to 14.9 range. We are down to 250 acre of wheat left then we will move on to dry beans.
Is your soren yielding up with other varities? |
