Kansas | 1: Help us understand.
2: In this neck of the woods back in 93 there was more than 9" dumped on us for a very long period of time and I remember wheat harvest for some stretching out to the middle of August. As a norm it is always done before July is ended. So don't preach to us highlanders that we don't know dick about heavy rains.
3: Don't be pissed at us because you chose to live in an area that is capable of flooding. You are the ones that enjoy that fertile ground in all of the other years. Now when you get caught with your pants down because you were lax, You take great insult because us highlanders who havn't lost any equipment to flooding........when it was damn sure capable........Can't understand the reasoning why when it seems obvious some care, some concern, and a lil "preventive maintenance" would of went a long way.
I'm still sympethetic towards any of you in that area and having to put up with that mess. I have a great admiration for the people of those areas right now rolling up shirt sleeves and taking care of business and not having some white jesse jackson on the tv campaigning for you to get FEMA trailers. People of that area are truly workers to take care of the problem and not make a national spectacle out of it bawling on the tv.
But at the same token, Don't get so irritated that some of us don't understand. We have dealt with same sort of weather. Just not living on identical terrain to experience identical results.
And I don't mean no ill feelings from this post. I can imagine the grief your dealing with. From this side of the fence though................It just looks like stupidity without knowing the whole story what the heck took place. Human nature to not be perfect.
Harp, are you right in the middle of this flood mess? If so, I am very sorry and wish I was closer that I could do something to help. | |
