Kansas | Now I don't know about you but I take care of me and Mine before I worry about some damn town.
Far as I'm concerned, I couldn't care less if mine washed off the map, Long as I got all of My stuff to high ground first.
I thought that was common sense (not trying to sound like a smart alec) to take care of your priorities first and then when that is all under control, THEN apply your labor and duties elsewhere to help and save.
That makes as much sense as helping a neighbor finish up his harvest with your combine while you got 160 acres of 80 bushel wheat of your own sitting there and the green clouds are rolling in.
No, I'm not an expert, No, I havn't ever experienced a flood ordeal like that and I darn sure am sympethetic for all of the farmers that are having to put up with that horrible nightmare. The flood alone is bad enough, the clean up afterwards I can't even imagine. But from this side of the fence voicing thoughts, I'd damn sure take care of my equipment and my property before I'd even consider helping anyone else do a dang thing. | |
