WC MN | No, we sound realistic. I've been at it for 15 years and never wanted to do anything else. My guess is you have never put in a 150 hour week to watch your crops go under water after 10" of rain in a week. My point is a lot of hard work can go down the drain after 1 weather event. We've lost crop to freeze, hail, wind, water, and to some extent dryness. Crop insurance is a big help, but for years it did not cover cost of production.
I've never started crying because I couldn't get something fixed so I can't relate to that, but I have cursed a lot. My experience has nothing to do with being pessimistic or optimistic, it's about being realistic to understand the business we are in. | |
