cropsey, il 61731 | For those with lots of paid for land self financing should have been an option for the last few years. "21st century farmer" makes it sound like farming is different now (somehow modern like the family farms model). This is still a high risk, generally tight margin business and that really has never changed. Having better, fancier tools doesn't not change the rules. We have to pay down debt and make improvements during the 'fat' times and position ourselves to survive the lean times. Pretty much just like any small/medium business does. There is no magical size or marketing strategy that wins every time.
No doubt the government types would like far fewer of us (just like large corporations) because it's easier to control er... I mean work with. I think there is pressure to get to that point (or at least encouragement), however, that doesn't mean it a good business plan. | |
