Subject: Farmers who do not farm their owned land

East Arkansas
In this area there are several...granted not a lot, but enough older farmers who rent out their owned land and just farm their rented land. These guys normally are renting 1500-2500 acres and rent out the 500-1000 acres they own personally.

One of the gentlemen who does this told me that he does it because he makes more renting it out than be would by farming it? I would have liked to question him further but it seemed rude to do so.

The land that I personally own and farm is some of the better land I farm because I level it the way it needs to be leveled, the wells are more than adequate and the fertility is top notch because I own and farm it. Why doesn't it work like that for the guys renting their owned ground out? What am I missing or what are the guys renting their ground out missing here?
