I know nothing about hog production economics but lets say you can buy a weaned pig for $50, feed it for $100, facility depreciation at $50 and all other costs sum up to $50 for a grand total of $250. You would raise a hog that you could sell for $.80 at 300 lbs? You are telling me you would rather eat the $50 in the cost of the barn instead of $10 in production? This is essentially what grain producers are looking at doing currently.
